Allison Barber Bell

Allison Bell is the chancellor of WGU Indiana, the state’s online, competency-based university. Bell has more than 20 years of higher education leadership experience, including four years of prior experience with WGU Indiana as their general manager of operations from 2010-2014.
Before returning to WGU, Bell served as Director of Degree Completion at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where she led operations and supervised academic coaching and career staff.
Bell earned a M.A. in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University. She received additional training through the Indiana University Advising Leadership Institute and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL). Her presentation accolades consist of presenting at the University Professional and Continuing Education (UPCEA) National Conference in 2017 and 2018, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) National Conference in 2017, the Quality Matters (QM) Connect Conference in 2017, and the CanvasCon Region Conference in 2017.
Bell currently serves on the advisory board for Career Ready Indiana, an Indianapolis Business Journal publication. She also serves on the TechPoint advisory board and the Indiana InterNet board.
Previously, she served on several higher education committees during her tenure at IUPUI including: Academic Policies and Procedures Committee, the Campus Advising Council, the Recruitment Council, the Welcoming Campus Task Force, and the Mid-North Promise Program. Bell was the recipient of WGU’s Excellence in University Service Award in 2011.
